Dialectical Behavior Therapy deals with “holding two truths”, seemingly contradictory, at the same time. I mention that here because I’m about to tell you what a great blessing Passages is to our community. To have an organization that seeks to care for some of our society’s most vulnerable population IS a blessing. This population carries the keys to wisdom, knows heartache, and has much to share with a world that often doesn’t want to hear it, doesn’t have time for it and surely doesn’t have the money or the energy to sustain it.

So, Passages steps in to advocate for, tend to and support these beautiful people when their families, for whatever reason, can’t. Thank you, Passages, for the work you do that affects the body, mind and soul of individuals as well as the heart of our greater community. Blessings!

“But, Lady, you just wrote a piece about the injustice that happened at a Passages event with a Passages employee.” Yes, it’s both, not one-or-the-other. . That’s what DBT is. Holding two truths. It’s yes-and not either-or. You feel me?

It’s like being overwhelmed AND still being able to handle the situation. It’s I’m doing my best AND I can learn to do better. It’s like I’ve experienced terrible things with churches AND God is real and He is love.

Don’t let one thing spoil the whole lot and shut you out of an experience worth experiencing, a love worth loving and a life worth living. Or, as for our Passages example, a lunch worth eating with people worth talking to.

eli says hard things AND she loves all people. It’s just that some behaviors need a little attention. That’s the journey of life. To work out the kinks. So, fam, start paying attention. And let’s work out those kinks individually, and together, without judgment, and with a whole lotta love. ❤️

Blessings!
