He taught me that:

I am worth something.
It’s okay to invest in me.
It’s not always going to be instant.
It won’t always shower over you.
All and much isn’t always much.
Patience.
Sometimes a tempered excitement is thrilling.
It’s not necessarily the chase. It’s the journey. Towards the ever-moving destination. A destination that never arrives. That will never fill your void. The key is to not have one. A void.
Yet to accept nothingness as the substance.
And simply being as it’s function.

Then I remember how beautiful it is.
How beautiful you are.
How beautiful we could be.
I sigh a deep sigh.
Reluctant to imagine the possibilities.
The cruel world tugging at me. It’s quiet promise of emptiness.
Showing me only what can be seen.
I turn into the nothingness.
Giving way to the unseen.
A life I choose to live,
For the first time, on purpose.
This… is the way of the Tao.
